The Connection is
The Lady in the picture is 'The Lady With The Lamp' or Florence Nightingale. She was involved with the nursing of the wounded soldiers in the Crimean War. The The medal shown there is the Victoria Cross, The highest military award given by the British Crown. And the canons in the picture are the remains of the Russian canons from the Crimean War. The bronze knobs of these canons were melted and till date the Victoria Crosses contain that metal in them.
